My Father

by Ryn Lois Funtilon

Let me tell you about my Father.
He is the same yesterday, now, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
He lives in a place where the walls are made of jasper, the city of pure gold, as pure as glass (Revelation 21:19)
And His love, there’s nothing that can surpass. (Ephesians 3:19)

My Father taught me to love and obey. (John 14:23)
If I do, then my heart is where He’ll stay.
He taught me to love the unlovable, (Luke 6:27-36)
For I, too, could be unlovable.

He taught me to be slow to anger and slow to speak. (James 1:19)
It’s no good when everyone is piqued.
He taught me to forgive as I have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13)
And to smile, for with me, He is smitten. (Romans 5:8)

My Father is all-powerful.
He is the one I turn to when I am doubtful
But my Father said to always believe, for those who doubt are like waves of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:6)
He is my light though the world is full of darkness and dimmed.
My Father is all-knowing.
He knows everything about me which will always be heart-warming.
My Father is all-present.
He hears me when I call, especially when I’m broken and bent. (Psalm 50:15)

When I don’t know what to do, He guides my way. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
He tells me just to pray every day. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

When I am tired, My Father gives me rest. (Matthew 11:28-30)
He is my strength when I am weak. (1 Corinthians 12:9)
For me, He wants nothing but the best.
He said, I will find only if I seek. (Matthew 7:7)

His plans are to prosper me and not to harm me. (Jeremiah 29:11)
But I said, “I don’t know what You want me to be.”
He said, “Ask and it will be given to you.” (Luke 11:9)
His Words are proven to be true.

Just when I think it’s not worth it, He says that it will be. (Romans 8:28)
For He knows that I will succeed.
When I say, I can’t go on and I just wanna flee,
He says His Grace is all I need. (2 Corinthians 12:19)

Just when I think I couldn’t do it, He said I can do all things. (Philippians 4:13)
For He told me I could fly that’s why He gave me wings. (Isaiah 40:31)
He told me I could run and not grow weary. (Isaiah 40:31)
Even when the days are dark and dreary.

There are times when I am afraid, but He said He has not given me fear. (2 Timothy 1:7)
There is no reason for me to shed a tear.
Just when I thought I was alone, He would whisper in my ear, “I will never leave you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
Deep in my heart, I just knew.

My Father showed me who I am. (Psalm 82:6)
Just like He did to Jacob, Isaac and Abraham.
I love, for He loved me first. (1 John 4:19)
He loved me even when I was at my worst.

My Father has blessed me with so much, (Numbers 6:24-26)
So it’s time for me to bless others with His touch. (Psalm 11:25-31)
He has given me brothers and sisters all over the universe. (Romans 12:5)
It brings my heart joy that He has broken our curse. (Galatians 3:13)

Nothing that I will ever say or do will honour my Father enough.
So I just keep on going for Him even when times are tough.
My Father always protects. He always hopes and He always perseveres, because my Father... He never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:7)
How blessed am I to have a Father whose love prevails.
